Celebrating Father’s Day for Our Dads Who Passed On

Father’s Day is when we get to honour our dads for being our provider, protector, disciplinarian, among others. Some of us may not always be able to express our love and appreciation for them, but this day is when we get the chance to do it.

For those whose dads have passed on, you can still honour them on Father’s Day and remember your cherished memories with them with the help of Urns for Ashes. This celebration is not only for the dads who are alive, but also for the fathers who continue to be alive in our hearts.

Listed below are some of the ways to celebrate Father’s Day for your departed dad.

1. Do the activities you always did together.

While your dad is still alive, there may be some activities you always enjoy together. It could be playing tennis or basketball, watching movies, cooking, or eating out at your favourite restaurant. To honour and remember him, you can do these fun activities and relive those fun moments with him.

2. Visit your father’s grave.

Spend time with your dad through visiting his grave. You can talk to him as if he was still alive. You can also bring flowers, candles, or anything that is also appropriate to your religion or belief. If your dad was cremated and you kept his urn in your home, you can also display balloons, flowers, photographs, and other mementos near his cremation urn. Some people have a memorial table or corner, and they celebrate special events with their departed loved ones there.

3. Celebrate with your family.

It’s comforting to have your loved ones with you during this celebration. It’s a beautiful reminder that although a family member has passed away, you still have a family with you and are there for each other. You can prepare a meal, visit your dad’s favourite place, or look at your photographs together. That way, you will feel each other’s love and support through a difficult time.

4. Look at your photos and videos together.

There is no denying that photos and videos make memories alive. Looking back at your wonderful time together with your dad is a great way to remember and honour him. You can even create or edit a video presentation that you can post on social media or share with your family members. You can add in the background the favourite song of your dad or any song that reminds you of him.

5. Write a letter to your dad.

There is beauty in writing. It is therapeutic when we’re able to express how we feel through words. Writing for your dad is not only comforting for you but it is also a creative and thoughtful way to celebrate your dad on Father’s Day. You can put the letter in a memorial box along with other mementos you have of your father.

Our fathers may have passed but their legacy continues to be alive in our hearts and through Cremation Urns. One of the greatest ways to celebrate them—not only during Father’s Day—is when we walk by the lessons, they have taught us.
